Gifted & Talented and Learning Support
Students in Prep are encouraged to develop special talents within mainstream classrooms. The Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator works with teachers and parents to ensure students who need enrichment and extension are catered for.
Learning Support is part of a P-12 RTI (Response to Intervention) framework based on Macquarie University programs. The focus is on early intervention for students who need assistance in acquiring literacy and numeracy skills in K-2. Pre Lit is part of the teaching program in Pre K classes. A Learning Support Aide works across Kindergarten classes and in years 1-2 students may participate in the Minilit program.
Two teachers work collaboratively in a year 1 and year 2 classroom in both English and Maths to offer intensive assistance to students with learning needs.
Learning Support staff regularly liaise with classroom teachers and parents so that each student is given the opportunity to achieve their best educational outcome.
